A Note from the Dean
Pastor Byron L. Craig
I was once asked the question, "If you could have anything said about your life as a Christian, what would it be?" I was stunned initially at the question, simply because I thought anyone who knew me would know I loved the Lord. But then it dawned on me that many Christians say they love the Lord. It becomes difficult to identify what aspect of godly living they enjoy. For some, being a Christian is just going to church, dressing up on Sunday, having their name on the church roll. But I'm convinced that godly living centers around serving godly. To say love God in the manner that he delights in should be the intent of all Christians, however, it's difficult to do anything in the name of the Lord without having a personal relationship with Him. Having a relationship with the Lord comes from spending time with Him in His word. Yes, as a Christian I want people to know I love the Lord, but I want them to see my passion for His word as well. As David said in Psalm 119:24, "Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors." I believe other Christians share this same passion for God's word. That's why we present the New Life Bible Institute.
The focus of the Norristown Campus of the New Life Bible Institute Missionary Training School, is to equip lay leaders, ministers, church teachers and missionaries in practical Biblical usage. One of the most surprising statistics that I've come across is that 1 out of every 4 American homes boast of having a Bible. In fact, the boast isn't just in having one Bible, but statistics tell us that the number of Bibles in the American home is 4! Yet with so many people having Bibles, only 37% admit to reading their Bible outside of religious services. It's inconceivable that a person could fully enjoy the benefits and blessings of their relationship with Christ without the Word of God. St. Jerome said, "ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ."
Our world, our country, our community, our churches, our homes are crying for those who have been taught the Word to come forward to teach the Word. Amos 8:12 says that "People will stagger from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east. They will go to and fro to seek the Word of the Lord. But they will not find it."
We encourage you to see this experience as a means to change your lives to the extent of changing the world. Although New Life is tuition-free, it's faculty is committed and quite capable in teaching the unadulterated truth of God's Word. We pray that your stay at New Life will be an on-going learning experience. |
